Spring is here, the sun is shining and the weather is warm! It is the season when we come out of hibernation and once again enjoy our southern climate. It is also the time to get your home in order. Yes, it is time for spring cleaning! Now, don't stop reading this! We have seven easy steps that will put your home in order and have you back outside in no time. 1.Vacuum or mop all floors, shampooing carpet if needed. Dust all surfaces of your home including knick knacks, photos, baseboards, ceiling fans, and window and door casings. Upholstered furniture can be vacuumed with wooden pieces being polished. 2.Store seasonal items. Now that winter is over those coats, hats and boots can be put away until the fall. Make sure that items are clean, as dirt and particles left on clothes can cause stains after several months in storage. Items should be stored in a cool, dry and dark place. 3.Check appliances. Look for wear and tear. You should remove lint from the dryer vent. Vacuum the coils on the refrigerator and defrost and clean out the freezer. Clean out accumulated gunk from the oven. Wipe down the dishwasher and washing machine. 4.Clutter control. Use four separate bins for this task. One bin will be for items that you will keep. The second one will be for items that you will sell. The third bin will be for things that you will give away. While the last bin is for things that are going in the trash. 5.Clean the garage. Have a garage sale and get rid of all of those things that you haven't used in the last year. Then organize the rest of the tools, lawn gear and other items in storage bins or by hanging on hooks. You may end up with so much space that you might even be able to park the car in the garage! 6.Patios and outdoor areas. Hose off the outdoor furniture and walkways. Make needed repairs to fences, touch up paint were needed. Weed the flower beds and lay down fresh mulch. 7.Window treatments. Wash blinds and washable curtains.
