Bright spring flowers have made their way to New Orleans, which can only mean one thing: Easter is just around the corner! One of the “hoppiest” holidays of all, Easter is the perfect time to enjoy being with family, and celebrate all that makes your Sunrise Homes community so special.

Of course, no holiday celebration in New Orleans could ever be complete without a fantastic parade. Every year, three different parades (starting with the Historic French Quarter Easter Parade, which departs at 9:45 AM on Sunday, April 21) help to kick off the holiday right, with entertainment, contests, costumes, and of course, more beads than you can imagine. 

On Saturday, April 13 from 10 AM to 1 PM, you and your children will absolutely love celebrating in the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden, where egg hunts, a petting zoo, face painting, bounce houses, arts and crafts, live music, games, and more await! Everyone will have a blast spending the day in one of the city’s most gorgeous outdoor spots.

Who can resist a springtime cruise down the Mighty Mississippi? Bring your children along for the ride of their lives on board the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen on April 20, where you’ll be joined by Bourgeois the Bunny! With delicious food, sweet Easter treats, fun activities and games, and a real alligator to pose for photos with (yes!), no one will ever forget this wonderful Easter tradition. 

If you have fond memories of Easter egg hunts as a child, share the magic with your own children on April 20 at NORDC’s Easter Eggstravaganza at the beautiful Lafitte Greenway! From 11 AM to 2 PM, children will be able to meet the Easter bunny while searching for eggs filled with candy and prizes. There will also be face painting, space walks, carnival games, refreshments, and so much more.
