Embracing Fall
It’s Fall, Y'all! The time of year for fall festivals, pumpkin carving parties, hayrides, trick or treating…well, maybe not this year. While this fall might look a little different activity-wise, that doesn’t mean we can’t do some fall-themed decorating and embrace the season. Creating a warm and cozy autumnal atmosphere can be fun and inexpensive.
Below are some ideas on how you can embrace fall and celebrate the beauty of the season at your home.
Add autumnal accents
Placing pumpkins throughout your home is not the only way to add autumnal accents. Simple additions such as festive wreaths, plaid pillows, or cozy blankets can make a huge difference. Incorporating classic fall colors such as orange and brown in subtle ways around your home can also help set the tone. And if you’re looking for a fresh take on a warm fall accent color, try mustard. It pairs well with everything from wood finishes to natural upholstery.
Dazzle with Dried
Dried sunflowers, leaves, and other botanicals strategically placed throughout your home can make a big splash. You can use colorful metal buckets and fill them with dried corn stalks, grass, or flowers can bring a rustic feel to your decorations. And you don’t even have to buy anything. Simply go into your backyard and grab some pinecones or branches from a tree and display them in a glass vase: instant autumn.
Create CozySoft throw blankets, fuzzy textures, and a few fall-themed pillows can instantly transform any room. Mixing diverse, cozy accessories can easily put someone in the seasonal spirit. And be sure to include scented candles in the cozy mix. They work double time; even when not lit, a pumpkin spice scented candle is doing its job by emitting that undeniable seasonal aroma: pumpkin spice. And nothing quite says cozy like the soft light from candles illuminating a room.
Don’t forget OutdoorsYour front porch or entrance way is another important decorating opportunity. You want your visitors to instantly feel welcomed to the season (and your home) upon arrival to your door. Including a fall-themed wreath and doorstep pumpkins are seasonal must-haves. You can also find very cute, and inexpensive, signs that “welcome fall” at any craft store. Or better yet, you can make one yourself. Homemade in many ways equates to fall and the harvest season.
This autumn may be a little different as far as what we can and cannot do with the typical fall-themed activities. However, when it comes to decorating and creating a fall-themed home, there are no restrictions. It’s just a matter of being creative and embracing the season.
