As the cooler weather approaches, there are a few key steps you can take to ensure your Sunrise home serves you well throughout the upcoming months! That's why our Sunrise Homes Customer Care Team has provided some tips to help you check in and around your home to make sure you're prepared. Please take some time to read through this list and attend to anything that may require maintenance:

- Clean and test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

- Test and reset ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCI) breakers.

- Check the operation of the heating system.

- Adjust registers and confirm that cold air returns are clear of furniture and draperies.

- Adjust or replace weather-stripping on exterior doors as needed.

- Check the fit of exterior doors; if thresholds are adjustable--use a quarter to turn the screws.

- Check caulking, inside and out, and touch up as needed.

- Drain your sprinkler system.

- Remove hoses from exterior faucets. Faucets will suffer a broken water line if the water in the hose freezes and expands into the pipe.

- Inspect chimney for foreign objects, such as nests.

- Review safe fireplace operation. Provide professional cleaning at regular intervals.

- Check garage overhead door, tighten bolts as needed, and lubricate springs with motor oil.

- Clean gutters, check downspouts; confirm that splash blocks drain away from the house.

- Check foundation, concrete, and yard for settling; fill in as needed for positive drainage.

- On pleasant days, open windows to allow house to breathe.

- Review your fire escape plan with your family.

- Decorate safely for the holidays. Do not overload circuits or use worn extension cords.

Remember, your Sunrise home builder and sales consultant is available at all times to address any questions or concerns, making sure you're completely satisfied with your new Sunrise home!
